Carianne earned her undergraduate degree cum laude from Stellenbosch University in 2005, after which she completed her year of community service at Witrand Hospital in Potchefstroom.  She started her career working in private practice in 2007 and then transitioned to educating future speech-language therapists at the University of Stellenbosch. While lecturing she obtained her master’s degree cum laude in 2010. She started her own private practice part-time in 2009, transitioning to full-time in 2011. During her time lecturing at Stellenbosch University and starting her private practice, Carianne was actively involved in South Africa’s Speech, Language and Hearing Association’s [SASLHA] governing body, serving as the Western Cape Chairperson and contributing to the ethics committee’s functioning.

Throughout her career, Carianne have worked in a variety of settings, including nursery schools, primary schools, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, retirement villages, etc. She has also continued to pursue various post-graduate certifications, and continues to do so, which shapes her experienced, well-rounded, and evidence-based approach to therapy. Carianne now specializes in acquired neurogenic communication disorders, dysphagia, voice disorders and facial rehabilitation for peripheral facial palsies.

Working as the practice owner and a full-time speech therapist, Carianne is enthusiastic about the significant impact that Speech Therapists can have in peoples’ lives, whether it be a young child still developing, or an adult recovering from neurological injury or facing a progressive illness. She leads her team of speech therapists with utmost passion, always striving to create a supportive environment where patients feel empowered, understood and supported.
